While fannying about with my non-opening door, I noticed a mark in the paintwork at the top of the door, and another near the latch. It's clear the door has come out of alignment. This looks like a ball-ache of a job. Perhaps it's not that bad. Anyone done this and have pointers?

sounds like your door is too high.

i have a Griffith Just had a respray and took the doors off.
there are two black nylon top hat type bushes in the door.
i changed mine while the doors were off. if the bushes are worn the door would be dropped ie too low
Difficult to get out as the bush inside the door mushrooms over.
i ended up taking the window mechanism out and the glass.
Grinding off the back of the bush and replacing. Ihad to make up a puller to get them out and in.

Try opening the door and seeing if there is any up and down movement when you hold it at the opposite end to the hinge.
easier to get the doors back on without the weight of the door glass and window mechanism.

I left the hinges connected to the body during the respray apparently a nightmare to re align

I had a door drop problem on my Chimaera.

Open the door and try to lift it up and down to feel for any play.

Next check the top nut to see if it is loose. This was the problem on my drivers door, so i tightened it up and no more play.

Everything was fine for a month or so but then the play in the door returned so i checked the top nut again.

and yes it had worked loose again, it continued to be this way until after i drilled a small hole through the nut and bolt and inserted

a spring pin. Now do not have any more door drop.
