Replacement manifolds
Discussion
Clive F uses a higher grade of stainless and makes them in his own workshop. Act do not make manifolds, they outsource them to JP Exhausts and they are made of low grade stainless. In my case my JP Exhausts manifolds arrived with ferrous contamination so they rusted badly. ACT offered to address this but I didn't fancy removing and returning them as that is a nightmare job and I'd be without my car for a period
You will need to research bolts too. For ease a lot of folk have opted for ARP bolts as they have smaller hex heads making it easier to spanner. The problem is that ARP are rolled threads so they are very smooth and therefore vulnerable to vibration loosening. If you use Nordlock washers to prevent loosening you'll need to pop-mark the ARP contact flange to allow the Nordlocks to bite on.

Probably better using the black oxide non SS varient then ARP652-1000
its the heat cycles that make the bolts appear to creep (they dont) gaskets compress removing bolt tension and then they unwind IME , mine are wired so they cant creep yet they still lose tension mainly on the rear 2 cylinders due to the above mentioned

Might be worth chatting to him anyway to see what might be suitable for you. As everyone knows, I'm a bit of a fan of Clive's work.

might be a bit of overkill, with a lowly standard tune 400! spitfire4v8 said:

Oooh, shiny!spitfire4v8 said:
I think he was looking for a one size fits all solution now that MOTs are stricter .. also might be useful info for others running higher hp engines who might happen across this thread ...
Does sound like a tidy option, I was thinking about the Y piece, additionally for maximum effect, but keen to avoid MOT emissions issues, so maybe this would be an option (and more shiny is never bad!) sawman said:

I have the ACT replacements in stainless fitted to my car and can only describe them as a disappointment. Rusty and weld spattered. I cannot recommend them for exhaust products. I also have the Clive F Y piece its a few years old now and has aged lovely. I can reccomend his product. When I purchased the ACT crap his manifold were not available I wish I had waited...

I ended up getting the ACT manifolds due to availability.
Wish i had not & waited for Clives.
The pipe needs moving 10mm away from No 8 cylinder. Plenty of space available.
The plug is hard to replace & i have to run a plug extender because the plug cap will always rest on the manifold.
Yes i did ask & was told no one else has complained & being made on a jig they cant be wrong.
Get yours welded or splash out on Clives manifolds.
