Hi All,

My body off resto is almost finished.
But we encountered a major issue, all electrics go weird when the doors are closed.

When the doors are open car starts, all indicators, lights, instruments etc work.
But when we close one of the doors (or manually trigger the door switch) the electrics start acting weird.
Hazard lights stop, relais start making noise, nothing works anymore.
The interior light keeps lit with a very weak light.

All earth points are checked and OK, Battery is full, all relais etc wrok when the doors are open.

Does anyone have an idea where we can start to fix this issue? We do not have any idea anymore

Thanks for the tip,

Had a look at the schema from the bible, indeed he courtesy light switches are switched earth, so when the doors are open that earth loop is closed. Hence everything works. When the doors are closed that loop is interrupted and the rest of the car needs earth and is not getting it.
Will start to measure the earths with the doors closed today, hope that reveals something.

When you took the body off did you remove the bolts that go in the top of the tunnel?
If so you may have missed replacing one or more of the earth terminals.
The immobiliser earths at the NS tunnel top.

Thanks steve,

I had a good look around those earth points, and indeed one of the rings was not connected.
There was some tension on it which made it shift.

struggled it back into place and all is working as new :-)

My mate did the same when he installed his Canems ecu and he was a great engineer.
I remembered the pain of working it out enough so when I carefully removed my earths at the transmission tunnel I instantly cable tied them together as one.
It’s a bit late now but a good tip in my book because it’s easy to loose one in that confined space often months later when your putting it all back together.
Excellent result.
Mine has an Earth connected on the right hand bolt as well as I think 3 on the left.
