Hi guys ..

I have acquired some nice red powder coated rocker covers for mt 99 plate 400 Chim. I have new rubber gaskets with them.

I have various things that look like they have to come off, like plenum, plenum hose (big) fuel rail feed and pressure regulator, heater solid pipes, flame trap etc...

So I do not take off stuff I don't need to, what would be the correct sequence to change mine over?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Near side elbow off
Off side off bit of a pain with the heater pipes and fuel pipes
No need to remove anything other than the connecting pipe work

Just make sure the brass insert spacers don’t fall out of the gaskets and into the engine.

What are the rocker covers you’re replacing?

Check you have the correct tool to remove the cover fixings, the heads could be slotted, allen hex internal or bi-hex external.

cool

Thanks again .. I do think that some items like the plenum are going to have to come off ... here is a few pics and to answer the question on what is being replaced ..

I have the long reach socket to reach the rocker bolts but the one that holds the heater pipes nearest the fire wall is not reachable due to the proximity of the metal pipe and is going to be a pain I can see! The fuel hoses will have to come off as will the neater coolant hoses as there is no movement in them

Heater and fuel pipes move to let the cover come off yes it’s a wiggle but it comes off

Passenger side remove the elbow and that will come off you may have to remove the Anderson’ plug as that’s a add on
