Passenger side door card removal.
Discussion
I am part way through renovating the carpets (fabric spray) and the leather (furniture clinic).
Very very impressed withe results thus far So far done all the carpets and leather just nearside door to do and heres the problem. Got the drivets side door card off and done the leather and carpet, looks like new.
On the nearside I can't get my arm in the door through the speaker hole to get at the fixing nuts and bolts.
Maybe my right arm is beefier than my left....
Anyone else had this problem and how did you overcome it ?

Hi,
I don’t recall the passenger door being more of a contortionist’s nightmare than the driver’s side, but you can improve access by removing the window lifter motor.
You probably know this already, but it’s worth covering the speaker hole with gaffer tape, it’ll cut down on the GRP rash.

I found it easier if I put my arm in at an angle of 45 degrees upwards, and when in right up to the elbow I rotated my arm down to the bolts.
Trying to go in with my arm parallel to the ground didn't work for me.
Got it off by using qbee advice and shaving some fibreglass off the front edge of the speaker hole.Trying to go in with my arm parallel to the ground didn't work for me.

When putting it back together again, I'd replace the original hex nuts with wing nuts. Saves monkeying around with spanners and indeed losing them in the bottom of the door as a previous owner of my car must have done given I found two in the door having just dropped one myself.
Good tip, have done it on the dashboard, if I had some I would have used them on this job, sadly didn't so maybe next time its off.Forums | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
