Hi, my chimaera has developed a misfire and is making a spark from the main ht cable to the left side nut, I’ve tried changing the ht cable but no change, any ideas?

Looks like some evidence of tracking in the photo on the path to negative terminal.
Clean it all up well and check for any hairline cracks.

Short term fix, clean and paint over where its been tracking with nail varnish.

Proper fix, new coil.

I believe it can happen too if your other ignition system components are not great ie cap, rotor.

If its not tracking, you have an open circuit in one of the HT leads or or missing carbon brush in the dizzy cap. Its far easier for a spark to jump a .8mm plug gap than to the negative side of the coil that's probably about 20mm,

There was a recall years ago for the coils. They are mounted in a hot position, so it's possible yours has some damage.

Thanks for all your replies, it was a faulty ht cable to the coil

But you said you'd replaced it? with another faulty one?
