Rear view mirror fixing
Discussion
My Chim was purchased with the rear view mirror missing.
I've tried in vain to mount a VW sourced replacement , but it just keeps falling off!
I've used 3M double sided tape, various servo tapes, Araldite epoxy, JB Weld and several eBay mirror adhesive epoxies - they have all failed!
I religiously clean up the little black mirror mounting area on the windscreen, removing any traces of previous adhesive, with rubbing alcohol.
The VW mirror is held in place with a snap-in metal mounting disc, this can be applied initially on its own to reduce the dead weight, whilst the adhesive is curing, but requires quite a firm push and resounding "snap" when the mirror body is relocated, often causing the bond between metal button and windscreen glass to part company again.
The latest attempt, a special internal mirror fixing 2 pack epoxy, did actual seem to work, but I found the mirror in the footwell again the next day!
I manage with the wing mirrors, but would really prefer a rear view mirror aswell.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

After a couple of failed attempts with other products (even sticky pads from a professional windscreen fitter) this worked for me
