Help !
I've been trying to sell my Chim to an interested German buyer and have supplied him with "hods" of my details. Anyway, he is now in the position whereby he is ready to part with the cash but is asking me for a "written contract" concerning the actual sale. He says this is now happening in Europe and has sent me a PDF version of the German "contract" which I'm unable to translate (even with google assistance).
Whether it's German or English, I haven't heard of any "written contract" situation regarding the sale of "used" cars and was wondering if anyone else knows different. confused

That "valuation" thread for Chimaera's is interesting; might have under-valued mine??

Walk away, and sell it to a uk buyer sold as seen after a test drive, both parties are happy and there are no comebacks, as long as you are honest as to its condition, mechanical and otherwise

...and the Brucie Bonus is that you won't 'undervalue' it this time! Win win.

You're not a business selling cars, its a sold as seen item! I think I'd politely refuse and invite him to satisfy himself that the vehicle is as expected, if he doesn't feel comfortable on pictures and details alone.

I don't see how this situation is helping you unless your desperate to sell quickly and if you have undervalued it then it should sell easy enough here when the weather picks up a bit.

Of course you need to be honest in your description as much as is possible but he's had plenty of info and pictures by the sounds of it. Everyone knows the risks of buying blind and if it stands up it will only cover his A**e not yours.

Thanks for response guys, especially that German document Tony, interesting.
Yeah, I would sell it to a home buyer but only 1 bloke seemed interested when I advertise it last year and he didn't view.
Getting fed-up with all the carry-on from Germany so may cut loose and re-advertise.
Bloody good car as well.
Thanks again.

No I'm not desperate to sell my car. Thing is he can't for whatever reason come across to view the car but I've sent so many photos and video's (time-consuming to say the least) and my details that I can't go any further. I'm not releasing the car until money is paid up front obviously.
Yeah, think a re-advertise is on the cards at a revised price.
Do you think there many home-buyers looking to buy at around £15k to £16k for a good car ??

Can't answer that one, one persons "good car" may not be another's but I do know I'd be hopping on a plane if there was a car I fancied for 15K in Germany!

Good luck with sale whatever you decide smile

My son sold a highly modified RX7 to a guy in Sweden.
He flew over with his dad had lodged the cash with a UK bank we picked them up at Stanstead and he viewed the car liked it
we took them to a branch of the bank got the cash he paid and they took the car and drove it back to Sweden all in a few hours.
So not a great hassle if everything is in place.

Hello Skateboard,
Germany is a bureaucratic country. And sadly a lot of us too. If we buy or sell a car as private we normally use a blank contract of the ADAC for example. So I don't know what a written contract should be. Maybe you can send me a pm. And I will look at it. We also don't make a contract before the seller meets the buyer. As I bought my Griffith some years ago in uk with help of Rob Inglby. The seller writes some words as contract which declares that that the seller is selling the car(with chassis number) to me. And the amount. Not more or less. Very bureaucratically
Hope you understand my english
Regards Dennis

So it's basically what we would call a receipt?
