Paint Repair / Touch up.
Discussion
So,
Although I am pretty stone-chip free, I've always had scruffy mirrors.. which I put up with... kinds touched up myself once or twice, but.. you know. Driving.
Recently, due to moving out of a garage and into a bag on a driveway, I got some dimples - I thought there were due to petrol contamination, but was told by "an expert" that is was due to the car being covered when wet, under the sun.

I have been quoted £2940 from Sandown Coachworks (Who claim to be the new TVR sanctioned body repair shop for the south east - at least over the phone)
Whatcha think? Thinking about getting a local fella to make it neat - am I being stupid and tight ?

I'd find a decent recommended detailer and get them to have a look at it rather than one of those smart repair jobbies, if it can't be polished out then paint it properly. Mirrors can easily be painted separately if the bodywork doesn't need paint, that does look like lacquer peel on some of the edges though. Stick a post up with a few photos in the detailing subforum on here and see if they can point you in a direction

My advise has been that when finishing my headlamp conversion with which chopped mat has been used is to apply a thin layer of knifing putty/stopper over the area to fill the microscopic holes which are always present in the GRP, then flat it down before applying final body filler etc. If not the tiny holes trap air which when warmed either by the sun or accelerated paint drying will expand and this shows up as dimples or bubbles.
