My old Crower or Peters old 248?
Or put the old trusty Tornado hydraulic in there.
The engine is a budget refurbished gems bottom end from a land rover, Just a hone, new cam bearings and the crank needed a 10 thou grind.
My 500 ported heads and other goodies will go on so it should be lively.

The one that makes the most power for your build.
I guess for NA that will be the M248 then.
Latest problem is that the cam bearings are too tight. Its either the 4th bearing or they aint concentric.
Or am I showing my lack of knowledge? (Likely)

Are you sure that it is not binding on the ally core plug at he end.Mine was and the plug needed setting back 1mm.
Put some Tipex or similar on the rear of the cam and test.

There is no core plug fitted yet.Mine was and the plug needed setting back 1mm.

Just to check the rear bearing I tried the cam in backwards from the rear and that ones ok. I also have a snapped cam that's only 3 bearings long and that fits and turns fine. So it's either the 4th bearing is amiss or a concentricity issue

Were they fitted by Chesmans?
Yes.I turned the cam a couple times and there was a wear mark on the bottom of the rear bearing. I polished it back a little with 1200 wet and dry and hey presto!
I think my Vernier gears are still with chesmans in a box of bolts etc so I used an old timing gear set and just checked piston to valve clearance and all looks good at this stage.
