Tyre shortage ?
Discussion
My 400 Chimera with PAS is on Estorils.........225 50r15 F and 245 45r16 R
I thought it would be pretty simple getting all 4 tyres replaced and was looking forward to making a choice over several brands.
I have trawled through the internet for hours only to find the only supplier is 4x4.co.uk with Toyo Proxes.
I know they are recommended tyres but I would like to consider other brands.
Has anyone had any luck recently with a reputable supplier on these size tyres please ?

Estoril and Imola wheels are the same width. 7" at the front and 7.5" rear. Many guides suggest 245 is too wide a tyre for a 7.5" wheel anyway, but I have them fitted to mine, as do many others.
When they wear out, my intention is to go back to 225/50 x 16. My local tyre place online check shows only one 245/45 x 16, a Continental sport contact N2 (Porsche approved) at over £120 each. There's a massive range available in 225/50 x 16.
The only 225/50 x 15s they have is a Nankang Xr611. Again, a huge range in the standard size, 205/55 x 15.

You can get rainsport 3s in the standard sizes, they are well thought of on here.
205/55/15
225/50/16
That's as near perfect as you can get for the wheel sizes. 7.5 rear wheel being classed as to narrow for 245 anyway. 205/55/15
225/50/16
You'll find with Rainsport 3 they look and feel just as wide and because there of a clever tough but very soft compound, have a nice fat footprint on the road with our lowish pressure settings,,, it works very well.
Compliant and super grippy in the wet let alone the dry.
Perfect for the driver who just wants to get in and drive with confidence whatever the weather,,,,,
So cheap it's a steal.
More than anything I like how the side walls take bumps easily and seem soft as cheese but hold the car up well.
Great for our light cars. I was going to spend big bucks on yet more shocks in my vain attempt to create a more civilised car, contradiction in terms you might say but hey ho,
Putting Rainsports on has stopped that idea in its tracks as it's now brilliant over our broken roads because the tyre's are now the first 2 inches of suspension and it changes the dynamics drastically and for me in a good way.
I'm experiencing slight tramlinning on the fronts but my geo needs doing and I've got to much camber on, so when I've sorted that out I'll make a better judgement.
Other than a 888R for aggressive track days I'd say this tyre should be great all year round because it actually heats up and not many road tyre's do that in my experience with these cars. Grippy beyond most drivers needs on the road by far.
I like em
