Chaps,
My car has started running rather unevenly, worsening with smaller throttle openings.
It's kind of like the shunting that I normally get at near closed throttle but now at bigger throttle openings.

Thinking it is probably electrics as I've not changed leads, dizzy cap/rotor or plugs for a while.

Used the be you had to try to get Lucas stuff. Is that still available or is there an agreed alternative for dizzy parts?

I have no extenders and use an early version of the thermal socks but expect there are now better available and like the look of the ceramic leads. Anyone had any problems with the ceramics ?

Cheers.

I went for the ones below, lucas isn't the brand it used to be but I bought them because the alternatives are not proved.
Distributor doctor may be worth a try if you are willing to spend the money but I seem to remember a cap and rotor were £60 from them.
The ceramic leads do look good, I ditched the extenders and went for the msd super conductors with heat socks.
I probably would not have bought the leads but I wanted to neaten the install slightly and lengthen a few, as the standard set were a bit tight with the extenders removed.
I also bought a spare bosch coil and ignition module, nice spares to have in the boot and not too expensive.

I have standard leads, no extenders and you're right, they are rather short.

I have socks over the leads but have had to make up clips and ties to hold them away from the manifolds.
The socks seem to protect the leads as long as they are not in direct contact with the manifolds but the rear two keep flopping onto the manifold and have thinned and gone white.

How do you stop your socks from touching the manifold ?

I found a spare HT lead clip on my PAS pump bracket and moved it to the rear of the OS rocker cover to hold the rear lead up, there was a threaded hole available there. The black trunking is just there because the lead is pulled tightly onto the coolant pipes and I didn't want it shorting out. The NS rear lead is okay on mine

I use these and dont really see an issue with them touching the manifolds slightly.

I also use some extra plug wire separators and pipe clips to help route the leads.
