Just a thought....
Has anyone tried 7.5"wide wheels with an offset of et25 on the rear of their car?
I seem to recall reading they work perfectly with the standard 225/50x16 rear tyres but wondered if they would be ok with the later 245/45x16 rears or even 235/45x17 tyres?
My car has 245/45x16 rear tyres and there seems to be loads of clearance.
Regards Chris.

From my experience and experimentation I have concluded that the maximum permissible rear tyre width is 245 on a 33 or 35 offset without trimming inner arches, however with varying severity of inner arch trimming and adjusted ride height a maximum tyre size achievable is 275/35/18 on a 9" rim on a 30 offset, it sounds a bit ridiculous but I've managed to make it work (with many thanks for advice from Peter aka Phazed, and great wheel alignment and geometry set up by Mat Smith (yes, only 1 't').
A 255/40/17 on et33 & 8" rim is just about possible with some ride height adjustment and preferably a tiny bit of inner arch trimming, however due to the terrific body to chassis alignment by TVR you will probably find you'd only have to slightly trim one side, for some reason it generally seems that any rubbing is on the nearside.
Just to add the 245 in question was Toyo R888 or T1R, the 255 a Yokohama AD08R, and the 275 is Toyo R888R.

Thank you for those replies, very helpful.
It would seem that if I stick with the standard 245/45x16 tyres on the rear. ann et 25 on a 7.5"rim may just be possible. Likewise a 235/45x17 on an et 25 7.5" rim should also be ok. If I incresed the et to 30 on both there should definitely be no problems then?
I always feel the standard rims look a little too far into the wheel arch and the wheels I like only come in the above sizes although the offsets can be machined to suit. I briefly tried some 255/40x17 tyres on an 8.5et35 rim and they seemed to be fine, no rubbing on a 60 mile drive but no spirited cornering either. I just felt they looked a bit OTT for my tastes.
As always there is only one way to find out!
Regards Chris.

Hi Richard, I met you at Hethel on Sunday, I've got the purple Chim. We were talking wheels and tyres and I couldn't believe you had 275/35x18 R888's fitted on the rear........and 245/40x17 R888's on the front! With the power your supercharger is putting out you need as much rubber on the tarmac as you can get. Which remained me of Colin Harvey's SC demo Griff, which last time I saw it had 255/40x17 R888's on a 9" rim with ET30. Colin said they only just occasionally caught the outer (untrimmed) wheel arch and if he was doing it again he'd go for an ET of 35.
