Just a little bling to brighten up the Monday blues.
Recently one of our Tvr friends decided to go Turbo and put his Clive Y piece up for sale. Having known Anthony some time and shared his car and my very first experience on a trackday in my own Tvr where we enjoyed the rain together biggrin when his Y piece came up and having gained some confidence that I haven't fecked my engine ( another tale frown ) I decided this was a good buy at a reasonable price and I like stuff from mates I know so jumped at the chance to try Clive's Y
I've been in two minds as to buy one from Clive but I have a hearing issue in one ear so this was the perfect chance to find out if I can have my cake and eat it.

Buffed it up and fitted it.
Fits very good, almost perfect without much of a problem getting clamps on. I did undo l/h manifold a few turns to give me some wiggle room and it clamped up without the need for strapping and pulling manifolds together. Once clamps were on I nipped exhaust manifold back up. Jobs a good un.

I was a bit nervous of loosing torque but after driving the car and opening my mind a bit the way Clive has narrowed it where the Catt would be actually gives it more torque yet it clearly flows much better as BHP is up. Car felt really fast.
13.1 up the strip, new diff, tyre's, Y piece... tweak of the map,, low 12's coming soon. hehe
I'll not go near a drag strip for years so pipe dreams really biggrin

It sure does thumbup

I'm trying to not get excited hehe but I just love this engine bay now.

Burghley you see such fine examples, mine is far from those standards and won't be until it's chassis resto time which is fast looming up on the horizon. Good thing is I've got all the good bits to bolt back on.

For all the looks it's function is very nice, smooth and adds power aswell as remove more heat.

My only concern is the noise. It's loud. I like noise but my left ear buzzes at certain bass notes, I,can happily say so far that note hasn't been hit and I've used plenty of revs so I'm genuinely well chuffed.

Now then, can we now be sure the overheating problem has gone for good? That Clive piece looks much better quality than my ACT effort and sounds like it fits a lot better too. You certainly brightened up my day at Burghley thumbup

The feeling is mutual sir thumbup

Time will tell Iain !

The fitter is gaining experience smile my secret was to smear a thin line of old copper grease around the flanges when brought together so the clamps slipped over them with relative ease. Soon burnt off but yes Clive produces these to precision and made it very easy to install.

Hi Peter, good to meet you too mate.
Engines behaving at the mo so time will tell.

I must be confident if I'm buying bling. biggrin

Car doesn't only look right with the Clive Y it seems to go rather well too. thumbup

Seems to use even less throttle just chugging about which is a bonus.

I've not driven it much but mid range torque seems to be up.

Might try half sleeving (Rich) old exhaust and trying that sometime. smile

Ive just had a very enjoyable ride in my car for the first time!
First time I've ever been in the passenger seat hehe

Odd to see someone else driving it, car felt fairly compliant from where I sat scratchchin

I've been looking at Clive's Y a bit bemused, then realised it's because I can see so much more of the chassis and steering rack.
I can get in there and clean it easier now,, bonus biggrin

Hi Al, that was a real pleasure, your car drives really well, very compliant and nice and easy in traffic and just plodding about, but plenty of beans when you let it go. All seems to be running well now, which is good news.

The Clive Y looks a treat, nice bit of kit....no complaints from my neighbours so far....did sound good when you drove up the road.

Cheers Pete

Cheers Pete. Makes all the effort and sometimes trauma's worthwhile.
You get so used to a car it's easy to get side tracked by the smaller niggles and magnify them in your mind until you get disgruntled with it all.
Perspective is the thing here and it's sometimes easy to forget all the good things you have as part of these cars. Just seeing you in the drivers seat confirmed just how good I look biglaugh

Driving off,,,, that's been something I've wanted to see someone else do in it, simply so I can hear it hehe
You'll have to have another drive.

Is it just me or do we all feel everyone else's car sort of sounds better than your own, at Burghley when chaps fired up to leave or go for a cruise in the sun I always have this prank of doubt thinking hmm, that sounds great, mines not quite this or that, I'm sure it's just because standing out of the car the sound is more complete so an illusion, still can't help but think I can only confirm this by having someone I trust drive off in it.
Mad en it biggrin
