Oil pressure nightmare! Getting the car ready for MOT next week and decided to pull it out the garage to inspect in daylight. Fired up and quickly had to turn off again. Neither oil pressure on the gauge nor extinguished lamp on the speedo. I've had both gauges out during the rebuild though so think I've made a mess of the wiring and reassembly. Having checked the pressure switch for resistance off and on I have established the engine is getting pressure (thanks god) so it's just a wiring issue somewhere..

Can someone verify the wiring on the back of my speedo? I suspect the 7mm posts may have the wrong wires on them, although this might not have an effect on the oil pressure light. My thumb is the bottom of the gauge...

Also I'm fairly certain I've toasted my pressure gauge. Would this cause the oil warning lamp to come on if it wasn't working? Also, anyone holding a spare in black for sale?

This thread might help - dash is from a Griff but the gauges should hopefully be the same smile

Andy, too work on the pictures. You're a wiser man than me for snapping them!!
Turns out I had 2 wires back to front. It hasn't cured the issue though.

Starting to suspect my sender is humped, although short of being soaked in power steering fluid there is not much evidence to support that. I have 12v to it and no light off / oil pressure. My only other option is the engine. frown

The oil pressure sender and the oil pressure switch are 2 separate sensors and circuits, so if you have 0 oil pressure and the oil pressure light is on then I would think that there is an oil pressure problem.

To close this out, I have re-loomed the whole engine bay. Managed to mix the sender an gauge feeds up.

All sorted now.
