Chimaera/Griffith Estoril wheel centres

Some advice please....smart new wheel centres arrived today,thought it would be a straightforward job replacing them. Have tried scraping/ hot air from hairdryer/swearing at them,but they really don't want to come off.

Am a bit wary of warping the plastic by using the hairdryer ....surely there's a better way ?

Unless someone has stuck the badges down with araldite or similar over the years, soaking in petrol should loosen the glue enough to prise off. Usual caveats about naked flames/sparks etc. when using petrol of course!

You could try 'Sticky Label Remover' from Maplin's. Leave it to soak in for ages.

I must confess I didn't have your problem, because I had to replace the centres as they were all failing (stress cracking) at the bolt holes, and TVR Parts threw in a set of badges as a freebie.

If all else fails, I'd run a drill bit through from the rear, you might then be able to prise them off from behind (small screwdriver maybe) without doing any damage.... new ones will obviously cover up hole

A hair dryer isn't powerful enough to warp that plastic a hot air paint stripper gun is probably your quickest way to warm up the rear and soften the old glue of what ever has been used. Just use caution so as not to melt the rear of the centre cap

Soak in boiling water

Took a bit of mixture of advice given....bored small hole with a screwdriver then prised it off. Brake cleaner to remove the old glue. Took 10 minutes.
