Fuel pump capacitor

Not wanting to hijack Swanjacks pump voltage thread, could someone please confirm if there should be a capacitor on the fuel pump?, if not and it's been fitted to try and reduce radio interference shouldn't it connect in parallel to the pump rather than from the negative pin to earth?

Not really needed unless its interfering with listening to the Archers on medium wave. It would go positive to ground.

Thanks Blitzracing, I think I will have to sacrifice the archers then, I was about to reinstall it thinking it was original but the wire just fell out of the crimp where it joined the earth cable, so maybe that's a future problem solved as well
