Just got the car back from the auto electricians who were so proud to tell me that they had also decided to renew the engine grounds to the chassis.

Thing is, I now have an oil leak that has left a quite puddle under the car, and it seems to come be coming from above the oil filter, and the bolt that earths the engine to the strut behind the front wheel is wet, as is the sensor next to it and everything around it.

Is it possible that the bolt that they took out and put back in, also lets oil out of the block and should have been sealed, just as you do with the sump bolts? Or is it possible that something above this point has sprung a leak, say a gasket?

You need a closer inspection with the engine running.
Both the oil pressure sender and the oil pressure switch have been known to fail and squirt oil about the place sometimes in a fine mist hence the suggestion to inspect with engine running.

They may have just failed but are also close to where the earth has been replaced so may have taken a knock.

The bolt into the timing case for the earth should not need sealing.

The oil is definitely running down from above the oil pressure switch and that bolt as there lines of it coming down the side of the engine.

If oil was leaking in a mist from the sender under the engine would it be able to go round and up the side?

If it was the switch then that would be more likely but then are they known to spring leaks?

I was running the engine on idle for about an hour while checking the temperature gauge with a multimeter and the pool of oil appeared during that time, so not just a couple of drops.

If it produces a puddle in short order it should be easy to find.
Give everything a good clean and run the engine again.

I'll get it up on a ramp later on this week and give it a proper once over.

Just concerned that in the meantime something is going to pop and leave all the oil on the road.
