I have recently bought a Chimaera and I am in the process of righting the wrongs. There are 5 bolts that hold the hood to the car and my car is missing the outer two bolts (the ones by the seat belt loop). I am not sure if they are supposed to be the same as the three inner bolts or where i can get replacements.

Can anybody point me in the right direction as it is driving my OCD bananas.

Thanks

Self tappers on the outer two.

They usually rot and snap off. Just push the remains through into the body and start again.

(Just done mine)

So it is a screw rather than a bolt?

What is the approximate length?

Just done my 1999 car, there are 5 stainless steel bolts with concave washers and 2 self tapers at the sides on the top

Bolts can be purchased from TVR Heritage Parts

Of the five bolts you talk about, I only have three of them, the two outside bolts are missing, next to the seat belt loops.

They look very similar to this.

Presume your OCD doesn't cover bad spelling and grammar? .. wink

Original bolts were just cheap roofing bolts

I am ideally looking for ones to match the existing bolts. My car is 98 so has the new style bolts.

This is what just came off my 1999 car. 2 inches or 50mm long, about 16 threads to the inch, which I guess is a 1.5mm pitch. M10 I think, Allan key head.

PS I never trust anything TVR not to be imperial, but I will try an M10 nut on one of these in the morning

Standard M10 nut fits perfectly
