Heater Control Unit ME0227

I have one of tina's lovely boxes of joy dated 01/10/97, it has suffered the ususal burnout of the earth which was fixed and all was well for some time before it went south once again.
Fan works etc when bypassed so issue is either switch or the ecu, fuse in ecu tests ok.
This differs from the v1 board somewhat

This car has aircon, although the box carries the usual ME0227 part no, nothing externally to suggest it is any different, so does anyone know if a v1 board can be interchanged with what I have found?
