Can someone confirm the earthing point for the rear brake lights?
If it is the earthing point behind the fuel tank, any tips on accessing this. I have an amp and cd changer in that area and don't want to start removing carpets and other stuff at random unnecessarily :-/

Yes the earth will be the nearside upper bolt holding body to chassis.
It will be a hex socket dome head bolt normally with PU sealant blobbed over it to protect the tank.
As you can guess from that last statement you will not just have to remove the amplifier you will also need to remove the tank.

Best option will be to run a new earth wire.

There are several circuits that all earth at that point but from memory there are only 2 ring terminals (with a few wires going into each) so if you think you have lost earth contact at that point then there should be other circuits that have also lost out.
