Oh well, nothing lasts forever

I have always taken great pride in informing the uninformed and those that don't know (and those that don't know they don't know) that my TVR, indeed any TVR that has been 'fettled' and properly looked after, is as reliable as any other car on the road, indeed, in many cases more reliable. I have preached this at every opportunity, enlightening the unenlightened, banishing ignorance where ever I find it, and enriching the lives of non believers..... I have seen this as a duty and a privilege, indeed, a service to the community... for I have bought light into their darkness... I have seen myself as an oasis of truth in a desert of lies.... I have... Oh never mind, point is, beastie wouldn't start this morning. Not that I was going anywhere as the MOT ran out last week while I was paddling in the North Atlantic.
Battery is good, all electrics work, fuel pump primes, but no cranking... turn the key and there's nothing... nada... zilch... lights don't dim, electrics all OK, it's like someone's nicked the starter motor while I've been away... This did happen once before, but after five minutes or so, lots of dashboard thumping and highly inventive use of expletives she burst in to life.... but not this time... I have a long list of jobs to do on the old girl, which I had planned on addressing during the planned body off at some stage this year....
Haven't investigated yet as I've been cutting the grass all morning with my petrol mower.... must say it really does cut well since I removed the baffles and had it remapped
Anyway, I know (hope) it's something simple. One things for sure though, I'll be keeping this a secret......

Check the small spade terminal going to the starter motor these can creep off over time it will be obvious if its off or loose, you will need to jack up the front however to check with a torch
yep - similar to what happened to mine. starter spade connector to wire joint failed - new connector and bingo. a bugger to solder in that location though. I needed a double jointed elbowThanks for the immobiliser and spade tips guys, I can't get the car high enough up in the air to get under it at the moment, which is a right pain... but it has made me realise I need a new (low profile) jack... the jacking exercise however has bought the state of my outriggers to my attention
I've been planning a winter body off for the last couple of winters, but I don't think it can wait any longer now... Time for some serious work and a new thread.....
