Alternative boot release

Hi Gents,
Can someone pm please with the "alternative" access to the boot. I've checked the fuses and the power to the switch, as well as the switch itself but everything seems to be working so assuming it's the mechanism itself.
It's a 99 V car with the later type angled number plate.
