Chimaera Mk3 Wing Mirror Removal

Hello Folks,

Grateful for any advice on how to remove wing mirrors from a Mk3 Chimaera. I need to get them repainted due to extensive paint chips.

Also grateful for any advice on where I can find the paint code. It is named as Starmist Blue.

Starmist Blue is one of the most frequently used colours. You will have no trouble getting it matched. Paint code is on the plate under the bonnet, pass side. I have it on my car so can tell you if you cannot find it.

Do you have Corrado mirrors? Look like this:

Hi QBee,

On closer inspection, I think I may have different mirrors to you. The main difference I can see is that mine have a series of black ribs at about the position where the black plastic trim on yours meets the painted mirror structure. I have attached some pics of mine.

Those are from Citroen CX (And Jag XJ220 apparently)

Also used on the S Series.

These mirrors are easy enough to remove but are a complete pain in the backside to re-fit/align.
If you really have to remove them (which you do not want to do just for painting) then plan to buy the replacement mounts available from this thread.
