Hi all,

My (new to me) car still has the original Pioneer unit and CD changer but seeing as most of my music is on my phone I'm going to upgrade to a DAB unit with single-CD and aux input. Questions are:

- Any recommendations or will any single-din unit fit?
- I can get a 4 channel amp for c.£60 that would go in the boot or cubby-hole - do you think it would be worthwhile given how loud our cars are?

Thanks!

I opted for a Pioneer MVH-X580DAB for ~£100 it's an impressive unit. Paired with some JL Audio speakers I can hear them over the drone at motorway speeds (roof off) I'd start with the head unit and then assess if you need the amp.

I like pioneer head units too, very good value for the money.
I have the JL audio speakers but personally wouldn't bother with them as the quality is lost in the car.

Haha! I hear you and can't disagree, it's more for long schleps up North, 4-5hrs usually, so some distraction may be welcome!

Put a Pioneer DEH-X8700DAB head unit in last year, old iPod in the usb, hands free phone, DAB better than the new VW's.Original Pioneer rear speakers, pair of MB Quartz in the front. Power amp on the Griff fits neatly out of sight behind fuel tank carpet. Stuck the DAB aerial under the dash above the glovebox. HTH.

Chuck21, if your interested if think that I have a couple of those small power amps (same as fitted in 5.0ltr), but never fitted them in the next car since I could not get hold of a similar PIONEER Head Unit .

Thanks guys, like the head unit and only £140 at Halfords (they do have their uses after all!). Power amp may be of interest, do you know what model they are and are they 4-channel?
