Hardtop

I,m thinking of going for a hardtop for my Chim . Any pointers where to get, how much £££, . Thanks in advance .

I think QBee got one recently.

You can have them in canvas or paint. The whole thing goes on the boot in two sections - targa panel and rear section. Or you can just take out the panel as normal

Being able to remove both parts makes it an attractive option and proper roof off stuff.

Assuming it's more waterproof as well?

Thanks for that Steve.I see you are based in my birth town of Halifax . I like the QBee version without the side glass, I assume there are no pro,s and cons but just personal preference.

Colin, if you want to see both in the flesh before choosing, I am one mile off your direct route to Halifax (though I thought he was in 'Uddersfield). You are welcome any time. Mine is Steve's own old one, made about 6 years ago. The one on his car is his current model. But he's very amenable (for a Yorkshireman). Actually, all Yorkshire TVR owners seem to be great guys.

Yeah definitely.
I know that not everyone suffers leaks and some standard roofs are watertight, but the hardtop really does cut out the draughts from the flappy canvas and seals down onto the body nicely. My interior and carpets are 100% bone dry and have been ever since going the hardtop route in 2009.

The only slight drip I sometimes get is from the targa seal right at the front where the metal door frame meets it.
Sometimes when I wash the car I (never when driving) I get a drip that runs down the inside of the glass (which ends up inside the door cavity and drains away as normal out of the drain holes in the door) so never a problem, just a tiny niggle, but this is how TVR designed the car so I blame them

Yeah that's right, just personal choice really.
The only pro's and con's are in the fitting - the newer style is simpler to fit and can be done DIY.
