Anyone using 17s on a Chim on track and has any ideas what the best tyres are to go for?
I use 18/17s for track but occasionally use another set of 17/17sHow much do you want to spend?
For a cheap start, what about the Federal 595 RSRs.
I have them fitted atm and reckon that they are about 90% grip of Toyo Triple 8s but only 60% of the price!

I might be selling a set of 17 " team dynamics pro race 1.2 7 and 8j with 2 x 235/45 /17
2x215/40/17 and one 235 new spare .
Correct offsets etc .
Not for me, sorry. I'm after a set of road wheels, but already sorted for track wheels with my own set of TDs2x215/40/17 and one 235 new spare .
Correct offsets etc .
One thought for everyone considering 17 inch, or 17/18 inch wheels and tyres.
Some options work well on both road and track, therefore meaning just one set of wheels, especially for the occasional track-dayer.
Federal 595 RSR would be my choice, as I have already had a set and loved them, but they are not the best in a downpour.
Matt Poxon rates Yoko AD08Rs, and uses them both on road and track.
I had a chase on a nice dry day around Blyton Park last autumn, following a Chim 450. I was on Yoko AO48 track tyres, he was on Uniroyal Rainsport 3s, my favourite wet weather tyre. 15 laps flat out, not a mark on the Rainsports. I am considering a set for next year and will test them on track.

Currently running Toyo R888R 235/40 on 17 x 8J ET30 Revolution Millenniums in the dry and Nangkang NS2R (100 compound) in same profile for wets for List 1B series circuit racing. The latter are as yet unproven on the car but selected after considerable research. I've also successfully run Dunlop 210/620 full race wets (A22W 404 compound) on the same spec wheels in another series yielding a good class win in torrential rain earlier this year. The car also has a proven track record in previous seasons on 215/45 Dunlop full race slicks.
