What have peops fitted for a charging socket other than the ciggy socket?
Guess the easiest option is to come straight off the battery with an inline fuse and fit somewhere under the passenger side dash.
Examples please?

Chopped the lighter plug off and, as you suggest, found a live and earth behind dash with an inline fuse.

I've had a ciggy type socket installed under the dash (ciggy type leads), also Andersen socket under passenger dash (for Accumate and jump starting) and two USB sockets run off the receiver in the 'loose change' pocket behind the hand brake for charging phone and golf skycaddie .

Now that's an idea! When you say off the receiver, do you mean out of one of the female sockets of a twin socket?
Presumably run the cable under the centre tunnel into the coin tray receptacle?

My Pioneer unit had two USBs on it , so I bought a double cable and feed it down the tunnet cover. My engine bay lights and footwell/puddle lights switch is located in tray. The USB lead you can see is plugged into one of the sockets, flash stick in the other .
