Copper washer or ally with a rubber inner?

Because neither work for me, and I'm getting a bit bloody angry with it.

I would suspect the sump sealing flange rather than the washer

Have you tried a few wraps of ptfe tape to the threads?

No because I bloody forgot. I wondered why there was a roll of PTFE on the bench, so I put it back in the plumbing drawer.

Now I have to take the plug out AGAIN. And drain the oil AGAIN.

Either of your 2 washers should perform the task so I suspect there is a problem with the sealing face of either the sump or the plug.

Yeah, me too, but I'm on my third plug, and I lapped the face of the sump back as well.

Like I said, I'm starting to lose my temper with it...
