Hey guys just had the chassis and outriggers repaired and now Trevor needs a respray. The overall body condition is good but she's silver and I want her Dodge Viper Blue. Anyway two questions

What should I be paying for this?

What do you do about the rear light set? I've read about the afterburner set (is this worth doing)?
I've currently got the 4 'pod set' but the guy in the paint shop suggested I don't change the internal colour as it looked complicatedsmile What's the method for getting this out?

Any steer is appreciated

Depends a bit on location... but for a decent job in the southeast, i would start around £5-6k for a windows out, thorough respray.

If you want the bay colour changing too, add another £1-2k onto that.

I'm in Northern Ireland and got quoted £4,000 which seems expensive (given I have no money left) smile

£4000 sounds about right if you want a proper job, colour change is a big job.
It’s about attention to detail and that takes time to get the best results.

Adrian and his team at Central TVR will do a full job for £4,500 plus the dreaded VAT

Ahem, Frank at 'Option One' is the only place I'd take a TVR to. He's done work for me before on couple cars and is superb.

Thanks guys - costs are probably a little lower in NI so that sounds about right.

Any thoughts on the rear light pod?

Their work does look exceptionally good. Ball park figure of 4k plus VAT for a full colour change quoted.

I had mine done about 6 years ago - although it was far from a standard paint job, it was around £6k in labour, I supplied the paint from a specialist company.

AS for the rear lamps, I kept the smoked covers, but replaced the units with Fiesta Mk4 "lexus" lights in black chrome. As a standalone lamp unit they look proper chavtastic, but behind the smoked covers, they look OK, and a was a lot more cost effective than the afterburner style lights

This was my old viper blue Chimaera with the 4 pod rear lights (I personally don't like the afterburner ones). The surround was body coloured and IMHO needs to be. No reason why your paintshop shouldn't be able to do this especially as the covers will be coming off anyway;

Another no for 'afterburners' here. nono Also agree that decent paint shop should be able to remove replace rear lense covers, although I know from experience it's a bit of a pig to do.
