So, recently had starting problems and garage completed immobiliser bypass. All seemed well. Car running fine. Went out for a run yesterday with no problems at all. However, just went to garage to get car out, immobiliser fob in ( only startercircuit bypassed) , turn key, fuel pump primes, turn key and one click then everything dead. Radio out, lights not working , no lights on dashboard at all. Plugged battery charger in just to see what happens and it will not connect / it’s obviously detected some type of fault. The alarm red light on the dashboard is still flashing but not in it’s normal regular way. Little red light above immobiliser key fob slot is also still flashing per normal. Nothing happens when I push the remote on key fob. Doors open ok when button pushed. I need to push car out of garage to investigate as no room in garage to work. I presume this is likely to be a fuse problem somewhere in passengers footwell rats est? Any guidance before I start looking would be welcome though.

Flat or faulty battery is the firstthing to check and it does sound like that's the problem

Loss of earths is next thing to check along with main power supply & Fuse

You say red light flashing on the dash. That means it is still immobilised. I agree with Penny PS, I would always suspect battery first, but my immobiliser did something similar recently, and sticking the little black thing into the slot on the steering column sorted it.

Loose battery terminal, blown 80 amp fuse ( in a bkack holder in the footwell rats nest ) are my two other thoughts - again mentioned by Penny PS

Thanks guys - just checked and all sorted now. Just a simple loose battery terminal.

You get a Blue Peter Badge for this diagnosis, possibly the most accurate one ever

Just nice that he has got it solved - it may be the only decent weekend of the entire summer !

Mine is running nicely, so took the roof off and delivered Harry (9), my grandson, to a scout and cub camp yesterday evening in it. Lovely drive out, nice little dice with a Golf R. Hundreds of parents delivering a couple of thousand kids, car got lots of compliments and Harry loved all the attention. Comments ranged from a discussion about TVR colours in Tesco’s car park (acquiring essential supplies of sweets) to no driver aids, to just “wow, proper car”.
