Rocker Cover Filter Cap 3208
Discussion
This will fit if you can't locate a replacement. In hindsight perhaps the mushroom base should have been removed prior to coating. I see the 1mm breather hole is blocked

Hole is not blocked.

So far from my searching the original cap is no longer available. I did think of this breather, do you still need to keep the 1mm hole, or is it ok to straight on the stem of the mushroom with mushroom head cut off?
My cap got lost in transit to the shot blasters, to much of my annoyance... hence the searching for options now at this late stage.

https://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/range-rover/rang...The 1mm breather hole is required to sweep the vapour space in that bank. It works by allowing a small amount of air to be drawn into the rocker cover. The vapour space is swept through the engine air spaces into the opposite rocker cover and then through the flame trap into the plenum. If it is blocked that rocker vapour space will become contaminated with combustion products
Rimmers no longer list it but always worth a call as they often have used parts lying around. They can be very helpful.
The filter is still available from them.

As second hand will do the job contact Martin at http://www.rrparts.co.uk/.
Very nice guy. Bought plenty of stuff from him including a couple of complete engines. He buys land/range rovers to break for spares but uses them as a daily driver so he knows all the parts he is selling are in good order. Car is not broken until he has a buyer for the engine so they can see it running.
Think you could probably buy your breather unseen though.

Alas they are in the USA, so postage may be high.
I might enquire myself for my Griffith (I'm in the US), so if you're not in a rush maybe I could get it and post it cheaper to you.
PM me.

Could you cut off the flat disc just leaving the vertical pipe going up with the pin hole on it. Then just fit a generic little air filter onto it to stop dirt going in?
Yes that would work. The parts the OP is looking for are just a foam filter and its holder so any other filter will work just maintain the 1mm restriction hole.Steve
