As title suggests what grade/ diameter steel tube should I be pricing up if deciding to make outriggers myself please.

Looking at the various options I just like the idea of making them rather than buying a set.

Im at my local metal merchants anyway tomorrow so thought I’d float the idea with them on price of tubing.
Thanks chaps smile

Will it make much difference now.

So 1 1/2 in 16 gauge CDS unless I really need to use ERW ?
Am I looking for SAE 1018

And thanks John, much appreciated.

The original is ERW and has probably lasted 20 years.

18 years and going strong considering, a chap was lookiing earlier and even he mentioned 18 years is not bad at all, I agree, if TVR had coated them properly with some rubber protection at the front most would still be in decent nick now.

Alun. Just spoke to RT Racing about fixing etc.

I will buy a kit as I can't be arsed to do the fabrication. Their kit is totally complete with all fixings, plates etc. All you need to do is weld!

I will call you later to discuss.

Bit heavy I’d imagine.

Thanks Peter.

For reference there’s also a guy on Facebook that does sets with shorter outbound tubes at a good price.
