Boot hinge silver trim replacement

Sorry a newbie to the forum but owned the chim since 1998.

My silver boot trim fell off somewhere on the open road.

I have obtained the racetech replacement. A stupid question but how best to cut it to size without marking/ruining etc

Just careful use of a fine tooth hacksaw and fine file. Grip it in a vice if you can with soft jaws or cardboard.
