Hey Guys!
can anyone tell me the origins of the 4.3 RV8 engine?
RR Classic had a 4.2 engin, but I'm wondering if TVR had sourced a different crank?

Thank you in anticipation!

Basically, the TVR 4.3 engine has the LR 4.2 crank and combines it with 3.9 pistons that had their tops machined down to compensate for the longer stroke, which - in case of the pistons being the 9.35:1 ones (apparently some have been built using the low compression 8.13:1 pistons) - reduces the capacity of the piston bowl from 22 cc to 12 cc and so - even with the thicker copper head gasket TVR used on this engine rather than the tin ones - sends the compression ratio to the far side of 10:1. The heads have been O-ringed around the chambers to provide 'bite' into the copper gasket.

Incidentally, the thickness of the (long NLA) copper head gaskets is the same as those of the current composite ones, so you can substitute these come rebuild or head work time without lowering the compression ratio (the difference vs. the tin gaskets corresponds with 0.6-0.7 points - which is why the later heads have smaller volume chambers (36 vs 28 cc) to allow for the thicker head gaskets.

The heads on the TVR 4.3 are very nicely and elaborately ported.
