Post engine and box removal I've discovered that my bellhousing is cracked, 4” or so along the top (I think I’m to blame for dropping it onto the floor!)

Can anyone recommend anyone who could fix this in the South East?

thanks

There is a rather large gap at the top.

Before you have it welded it, best to check the bolt holes still align with the block.

I have a contact in Ripley if its more local to you. Just PM me.

OP you have me worried. When you dropped it did it also land on the input shaft? Can't realy see how it would not.
Careful inspection as you don't want a bent input or a damage bearing.

When I was pulling it forward and out of the transmission tunnel the tail of the gearbox fell off the support and the output shaft flange hit the concrete floor, the box then fell off the front Jack and the bell housing dropped onto my lap, rotated and the top of the bellhousing and gearlever hit the floor.

So the good news is I’m confident the input shaft didn’t hit anything.

Bad news is the bell housing is cracked (but can be repaired easily enough) and there maybe damage to the output shaft bearing and the gearlever (which isn’t too concerning as that’s easy enough to repair/replace.

I’ve taken the box out to get it full rebuilt and I’m going to overhauls the remote linkage (think I need to replace the 4 bronze bushes and the mechanism ball joint as well as the nylon ball joint at bottom of the lever). I will let the gearbox rebuilder know it’s been dropped and they can double check in the output shaft area

Excellent, glad you got it sorted.

Hope you checked out his Dodge '440' Dart while you were there.

I saw a huge block in his porch and asked what it was as the cylinders looked huge. He said s it’s a something Black block and it’s 10L so I said from a truck? No from my car!!
