I need a new ignition coil and don't want a cheap aftermarket one. Does anyone know the part number for a Bosch coil for a 4.5? Or even better, a reputable supplier?

Many thanks
Cad

Bosch PRC 6574, although I've also seen BOSCH PRC 6574G Bosch part no. 0221 122 392 (don't know the difference).

As far as I'm aware the former fits all Rover V8 engined ones, it's the one listed in the Alternative Parts List, 2005.

I sourced from a local motor factor.

Thanks Tarquin. I just did another google search and it came up with the 0221122392 number. I've found an online place that does it for £48 so will probably order it. Might check my local first, just in case.

Not wishing to teach granny to suck eggs but there have been various reports of fake Bosch and NGK parts on a well-known online auction site, however, Carparts4less (same co. as ECP) have it for the same £48 (assuming, that is, you've seen it elsewhere) under their internal part no. 413600020.

I see ECP, despite their stupid continual discounts (now c60%) want £60 or so for the same thing.

Other option is a good (genuine factory fit) used coil from someone who's gone for 'Megasquirt' or similar scratchchin

I used a Powerspark Viper - spot on for the money unless originality is your thing...

Another vote for the Viper, advantage being its a dry coil, so no issues with cooling and oil
