Hi Guys,

Completely new to the community here and looking for some help.

We have a 1993 Chimeara, thats been sat for about two years without a start. The sparks plugs have been checked and the engine is cranking but wont fire up. The engine doesn't seem to be getting any fuel.

I've looked through some old posts and have seen people have mentioned you should be able to hear the fuel pump and ECU make a noise when the car is turned on, there is no noise. So it seems like the fuel pump is not engaging, not sure if this is immobiliser related.

I have also checked the inertia switch under passenger glove box to make sure this has not engaged.

One other thing to note which is probably unrelated is that the left hand indicator is on solid constantly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So when you turn the ignition on, have you tried (with the ignition on) pressing the key fob button? About 10 seconds after unlocking the doors the immobiliser re-arms and you need to disable it again. The fuel pump primes at that point.

I had a similar indicator issue after last winter layup, which cleared up by itself so I assume it was damp. The lights glowed dimly.

Maybe the fuel pump has seized up, try giving it a few taps. If that doesnt help you will need to start checking for voltage at the pump terminals to try and narrow it down.
Assumed you have checked for spark?

it's OK to run the pump backwards which may help if it's blocked. yes

^^^^ this
The immobiliser controls both the starter and fuel pump circuits so if starters turning but no fuel pump prime start with checking power at the pump by getting someone to crank the engine while you check for at least 12.4 volts at pump terminals.
If you have power then do as Lance suggests.

Or just jump the terminals on the fuel relay in the passenger footwell. If the fuel pump runs from there then try starting the car, if the car starts it's a relay/signal issue for the pump.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the replies. A new fuel pump did the trick, the old seemed to have given up. Hoping to have her back on the road soon.
