Hi all,

I have mostly put together my 5L engine with Wildcat cylinder heads, and have been weighing up options for the sump.

I was initially just going to use the standard sump, as it is only a road car with maybe occasional track day use (no need for a dry sump system), but given the state of tune of the engine, something a bit better than the original tin can sump might be called for? I also need extra clearance at the front as I realized at the weekend that my crank doesn't clear the front of the standard sump.

Seems to be 4 options as far as I can tell from my research

1) I called Mulfab, and they can modify my sump with baffles and trapdoors and provide a little extra capacity and clearance at the front, but they quoted me silly money. Over a grand including the dreaded.

2) John Eales, but he says he has nothing in stock at the moment.

3) There's a baffled and winged sump for sale on Ebay at the moment, but that's nearly £900 beer chits. Also don't think I can have wings as the exhaust runs by the side of the sump.

4) Add some baffles to my own sump, and clearance the front (either by adding a section or beating it with a hammer/carefully forming it until it clears blabla)

I am kind of in a rush to get my engine together and back in and get the body on so I can move the car, so don't really want to be spending too much time making my own.

Does anyone know of any other sources of suitable sumps, or maybe even have one themselves for sale? Or have any other suggestions?

Cheers

May be worth asking on the Facebook Rover V8 enthusiasts page, its very active with lots of modified stuff going on. Worth joining even if your not a Facebook fan.
Advice there can be very quickly responded to.
