94 Chimaera 400 clutch issues
Discussion
Hi all,
I’ve recently ran into some clutch related issues on my chim. I took the car to a “specialist” whereby they undertook the following work:
- Master cylinder and slave cylinder replaced.
- Clevis pin replaced.
-Rebleed clutch.
-Replace clutch arm and pivot and pushrod.
And a few weeks later… I’ve now lost again 70% of clutch pedal depth and can see that the reservoir is now empty (have topped up, which provided some degree of pedal feel back). I have also noticed some leaking in the footwell… which I assume is the fluid.
Any help / ideas would be greatly appreciated - my initial thoughts are it may need another rebleed… but I am not expert at all.
Thanks

If it helps anyone to keep costs down, when I fitted a new clutch master on my 1995 Chimaera a few years ago I fitted this model from Moss and simply reused my pushrod linkage.
Part number 154933 (yes it says LHD but it worked for me). I checked my receipt and I bought the TRW branded version.
Moss Europe
Hope this helps.

In the same spirit, I fitted this clutch m/c to my 1995 Chim in 2023, and it's still going strong.
Also TRW branded. Also reused the pushrod from the outgoing leaking Girling m/c.
I have no idea what a LHD clutch m/c would be, since pedal boxes are the same between LHD and RHD!
Maybe it has those stickers on the front like we used to put on our headlights, so your gear changes don't dazzle the oncoming traffic

It does sound like the issue for the OP will be connector/fitting related, and the mechanic should deal with it - it would be great if we get t ohear what went wrong for the sake of knowledge...
