After a short delay, it was due last Friday, I'm finally picking up my Chim 99 T 4.0 tonight.

I've waited a l-o-n-g time for this.

Happy!

I'm very happy for you. I drove 140 miles to pick mine up...with hindsight I would have crawled that distance over broken glass.

You will talk to her you know. As you're driving.

And you'll give her a name

Welome to the Grin Factoy

Mine doesn't yet have a name above 'my baby', which the girl friend hates as she thinks she's been demoted.

I was impressed with my baby doing the Champagne run, the girlfriend less impressed when I started telling the car I was impressed

Simon!

You're already halfway there! Picking her up around 8? Dinner, followed by a romantic drive in the country, just the two of you. Petrol runs out maybe? (Obviously, not really!!)

Man I love my car

Funny isn't it, that first journey home. It's the one I remember above all others. I took a risk on the car (history iffy & some mechanical question marks) but I drove the worst journey I've ever had between London & Lancashire without any car problem whatsoever other than the infamous wiper park switch. Absolutely brilliant. It peed down - no leaks & the wipers worked, I crawled for hours through the midlands - no overheating, it went dark - all the lights worked. And the grunt - lovely. Who could ask for more. Actually, a number of contributers on here suggest driving as many as poss before buying, don't take a risk etc as it's a buyers market. True in many respects but if I hadn't have gone for this when I did cos the price was right then I would've missed out on so much fun. It has cost me some since but I'm still ahead on pleasure! And, I have to say contrary it seems to many others, I've been very happy with the factory & the people in Blackpool.

Enjoy!!

first drive in a chimaera..... one day you wont forget, believe me...
I picked up my 5Ltr chim just 10 days ago, luckily for me, i had a nice 700 mile trip home... still can't believe i actually own one...
ok, you get some niggles, sure, i had my first one at the 1st petrol station.... put the nozzle in (not far enough) and consequently sprayed myself in petrol... but hey, who cares, i'm the one with the tiv...
then, getting back into the car the door wouldn't open... (later found the allan screw was loose, and once tightened up, not a problem since).. oh... the grins, the smiles, the looks... ahhhhh
Welcome to the world of grinners

Picked her up at 5:30 last night, enjoyed the 15 mile drive home like nothing ever before (and I mean NOTHING). Still grinning!

Got no tax so had to curtail the desire to drive all night.

Of to the local DVLA office this morning to tax and register under my personal plate.

75 mile round trip - but not one for my new baby. It looks like it's going to ps-down with rain and I'd rather get some experience in the dry first.

Only found one thing wrong so far, the electric door mirror on the drivers side doesn't seem to want to play. Excuse to spend time with my baby later !!!

Thanks for all the replies.

Check the switch before you start taking the door apart. Apparently it's the most likely (and easily rectified) cause.

Get hold of the Bible!

The names will vary depending on if you are stranded or not

all the best with it.

Cheers,
Matt.

Or check the wires that go into the window motor. Just take the door speaker out and they are very easy to get to.
