Front brakes on Chimaera
Discussion
Car has been pulling to the left under heavy braking - so I decided to get out the axle stands and have a look at the problem.
As I thought the near side disc was scrap.
Phoned around a couple of places with no results - most did not want to know as soon as you mentioned TVR.
Got in touch with Part Co in town. The guy told me to bring the parts down and he would have a look for me.
Well he spent the best part of an hour trying to get the correct parts. After a number of false starts ( to say nowt about raised hopes) and many measurements he was able to sort me out. Top man, two front discs and callipers and all for under £100!!! Now that is what I call a result.
Top marks for Part Co Autoparts and Jason.
Cheers

Pity - I have some good 260mm EBC discs and nearly new ferodo DS 2500 pads you could have had. I've also got the original calipers which were working fine too (upgraded my own car).
They're all Ford fittings/sizes, TVR just used several over the years - you did the best thing - took the bits to a parts place.

That's the problem - they used various Ford parts. You need to take the old one to get a match if you go to a parts place.
On my Aug '95 it uses Escort/Sierra size calipers/discs on the front (260mm). They changed the braking system in '96 - same as the Griff 500 after this - easy way to spot this is by rear vented discs. Early cars had solid rear discs. But like I say, there were a number of different sizes even among the 93/94/95 cars.

Any chance you can tell us you car age and the part numbers of the new items? Before we get into a p***ing contest about what fits what, I know that many different fits have evolved over the yearws - but at least it will give someone a starting point to look from.
Hi Phil,
My car is a june 95.
Discs and cals from a series 1 Escort Turbo.
I have got green pads for that bit of extra bite! I have used them before on a twin turbo Supra.
I think that you get what the factory had to hand on a particular day of the week.
ALWAYS, always take the parts to the motor factors.
If I had not , it would have been easy to do at least two extra trips .
Cheers
