Not really certain what has happened but overnight there appears to have been something ( Basketball / football) or someone! on the roof of my XJ8 (308).
Apart from the obvious disbelief and frustration I need to get a feel for what cost this type of repair is likely to incur, plus what is the most suitable method?

Firstly, the two dents are very shallow, one at the N/S front corner and one at the N/S rear corner of the roof. I have tried to photograph them but they simply do not show up in a picture. My other half feels this is proof positive that I should not bother fixing them! Needless to say I don`t agree, as I am certain they can be seen from space!
I have taken the car to several body repair centres and the method/cost of repair is so different from everyone that I thought it worth asking the members here for a spot of comment and advice.
For example a) New roof panel and paint £2,500 + V.A.T.
b) Drop roof lining and pop dents from inside + paint £1,00 inc V.A.T.
c) Pull dents from the outside, no paint req. £170 + V.A.T.
Thanks in advance, Peter.

Pulling the dents has got to be worth a shot at those costings! I am sure the Dent Devil types of business where they can roll or suck the dents out cheaply are fantastic. The last one I spoke to said they are best on shallow dents where there is no cracking of the paint.

Really hard to say without seeing them, but I cannot imagine they are bad if you cant see them clearly in a pic.

If they are a perfect curved dent then you could get them sucked out, I had this problem when I thumped the roof of my Manta GTE in frustration (after I did something silly I wont go into!)Could not even tell there had been a dent and only cost me £50
