Hi All
I am looking for info as to what may be causing the engine malfuction light to be on all the time, sometimes along with this the amber alarm shows and read out states cruise control not available.I have not tried the cruise control since this happened.
This happened last week. Once only did the car go into limp mode, when I turned engine off for a few minutes, started ok.but same alarms still there.

First try would be disconnect the battery, charge it fully - leave it off for 12 hours. It resets the ECU (i think) and then reconnect.

If it comes back, buy a £20 U308 fault finder to read the OBD codes... see what you get

The only time my engine warning light has come on for my 3.0 X-Type was when the Lambda Oxygen sensors failed. the car has 4 of these sensors (upstream and downstream for both banks of the V6). 3 of the 4 have now been replaced over the ast 5 years.

It would be worth getting the codes read before you start trying fixes.
