As the title says, I really really like my 2008 XK, the exterior colour, the interior, the wood (satin American walnut I think), the fact i can get 30mpg out of an auto V8 and I really, really do not want to change it - BUT........

....it would be nice to have a bit more power!

I've had TVRs in the past so am not averse to spending a few quid on 'upgrades' - SO.......

....what upgrade options do I have to get more power without changing to an XKR?

(fyi, if there's none, I'll stick with what I've got)

Buy an XKR, best & cheapest option to get a guaranteed 100BHP.

unfortunately the cost of upgrades to get 10hp here or there are going to cost you more than buying the XKR would and with the XKR youd get your money back at resale.

However, as you have said you would rather keep it than buy an XKR, I reckon your best chance is to research the garages near you and book it in for a re-map. At the end of the day, better air flow into the engine and out of the engine is all you can mechanically do, then a remap would give the best from the engine. Remember a standard map is always a compromise for emissions and mpg figures.

I would expect only 10-20hp more, but alot more mid-range punch and a raised torque curve from fuel mapping.

If your on www.xkec.co.uk then post up there and all the specialists will reply to you

Good Luck

Mmmm, pretty much what I thought from looking around.

The choice of the XK over the XKR was deliberate. It will become my daily driver in the not too distant future with around 25k miles per year going on it.

So, the probable ‘savings’ in servicing, fuel, speeding tickets etc as well as the lower initial cost for what, at the time, was a good sub-20k miler made the choice valid from a financial p.o.v.

I currently use a diesel with 500Nm of torque as the main driver, so was hoping to get somewhere closer to emulating the pull I get from that without changing down with my XK.

Not to worry, I’ll just have to use the paddles a bit more!

One point

The XKR has a lot of low rev tougue so you don't have to keep up the revs in a low gear

Infact I have done a speed trial starting off in top,
no problems and not that far behind those going though the box
