X-type Manual 3.0 V6 sport actual MPG
Discussion
3.0 V6 se manual, 2002, 68k
Economy wise - in town 21-22mpg
Motorway at indicated 65 - around 40mpg (yes really and done it over hndreds of miles)
Motorway at inidcated 75 - around 35-36mpg
Performance is ample quite frankly. I find it on a par with my old 540i and very pleasing. Seats are very comfy and it's a smooth ride (se model).
Overtaking on A and B roads is easy, 3000 revs is where the fun starts. Up to there it's just a lovely gentle torquey pull.
Really impressed with mine

Thanks for that info.
I currently have a noisy rattly uncomfortable Peugeot 106 GTi and get high 30's early 40's in that.
Commute around 9 mile each way daily at NSL and the odd door to door and would prefer something comfy and quite with a bit of poke.
Did initally look at BMW E46 328/330 but didnt realised how much car you got for the money with the Jaguars which is why im asking.
Can anybody confirm how much it costs to fill the tank and how many miles you get from a full tank.
At the moment I only put in £20 and it generally lasts me exactly a week.

Brimmed from empty it's 13 gallons, so I guess you'd normally "fill" with 10 or 11.
I'm popping about £65 in at the moment (129p/litre locally).
Range depends on what I do. Entirely town and I'm around 250 miles. So anything from that upwards really.
Bristol to The Lizard (Cornwall) and return on one tank, 400 miles round trip, plus about another 10 popping about down there.

I have owned 2 2.5 Sports since 2003, and in both averaged overall 25-26mpg, on a long motorway trip you can get about 400 miles, but mix traffic expect to go from full to empty in 300-325 miles. There's very little difference in mpg between the 2.5 and 3.0 same engine, common estimate is 1mpg in favour of the 2.5.
To fill up currently is just short of £80 from empty.
