I've recently acquired a 2002 XJ Sport, it's a superb car and in great condition, unfortunately the service history is not present.

I seem to recall Mercedes and BMW keep the history of their cars on record, is there any way of getting a duplicate book with the relevant stamps from Jaguar? I know the car is quite old but I'd still like to get hold of the service history if I can.

Any help much appreciated.

Yes, I exactly did this with mine. Call the dealer given on the rear numberplate, if there is one, as that's where the car began. They will be able to tell you all the services they did, and also if the car was serviced at any other Jaguar dealer. They should be able to supply (sell you) a replacement service history book and fill in all the stamps, mileages etc just as originally.

(Obviously once the car leaves the dealer network the trail stops)

I have done this too. Make sure they supply you with the correct service book though - the X308 one might be different to the X350's service book.

It will be a replacement service book and will have something like "Replacement/continuation" stamped on it. Provided you know which dealer supplied the car they will definately still have your car in their records. 2002 isn't that old, my local dealer still has details of my 1992 car.

This sounds promising. My car came with no service history. I'll try ringing the supplying dealer to see if they have any info.

I rang Jaguar about mine and they were able to tell me which dealers saw the car when it was in the warranty period, each of whom has given me some information and agreed to stamp a service book if I get one and send it to them.
