XJ8 Power Steering Pump fault

Hi all,

My 2001 XJ8 seems to have developed a fault with the power steering.

When cold is doesnt work, but after 3 minutes of warming up comes into life. In the interim it jumps into life and then dies again.

It is also making a racket when turning the wheel, doesnt sound healthy at all.

If relevant, it had an engine out rebuild about 6 months ago.

Any help would be appreciated. Dont fancy forking out more money if at all possible.

Have you checked the fluid level? Maybe it needs topping up?

Sounds like the pump drivebelt. As it warms up it starts to grip and the noise disappears.

No, not done any real diagnostics yet. Will check at weekend.
