I have just bought an X type 2.2 diesel 57 plate. Lovely car. When I came to put a bag of shopping in the boot the cover over the spare wheel sank about 5 inches. It is now well bent. On looking underneath the only thing that has stopped it is the space saver. It actually seems a lot of room for a full size tyre. There is nothing to support the boot base. Should this be a full size spare or am I missing some other supporting structure. Thank you in anticipation

S-Types have a circular moulded lump of black/grey expanded polystyrene which also holds the wheelbrace and other tools. Suspect X-type is similar?

The boot liner should be robust enough, mine certainly is and the space saver is no problem. You do have the 1/2 inch thick one not just a thin piece?

I'll stick up some photos of mine tomorrow smile

I also have a plastic boot liner on top to keep it all wipe clean 'cos I'm a bit OCD like that wink

Here's the boot mat. Note the cirular line marks where it is made of a solid board. The mat is about 1/2 inch of insulation material.

Boot inner with space saver. Little lug helps with board support I suspect.

All in place with plastic boot liner.

It's a very good fit indeed. Loads of them on ebay and good value too. Mine has the CD changer/SatNav housing in the boot. Some don't. Just choose the right one wink

The ruffly looking it is non-slip too.
