Just spoken to my mechanic (an old family friend) who advises that my 1998 X308 XJR could benefit from a service. He last did an intermediate service 5000 miles ago in Oct 2010. He recommended that these older engines benefit from early servicing rather than waiting for the 10000 miles to be achieved.

The car is my daily driver to and from work 5 miles away and round and about!

Any thoughts appreciated!

I saw that on another thread on here recently too. Short trips do wear the oil out quicker than long ones.

Yes I have a 10,000 service with an additional 5,000 mile oil change

I would also recommend an oil change at 60,000 miles for the gearbox, diff and supercharger
